The Kimberley region of north Western Australia is hot right now, both for cruising & land based touring. Take to the water & experience some of Australia’s most remote coastlines from a whole new perspective. Cruises range from small ship experiences such as Coral Adventure & True North, to luxury with Silversea & Ponant. APT & AAT Kings have unique land touring, visit the Purnululu National Park, the spiritual heart of Arnhem Land & the wilds of Kakadu National Park.
The legendary train, The Ghan travels from Darwin to Adelaide via Katherine, Alice Springs & Coober Pedy, enjoy a stay in Darwin & Adelaide, before or after your journey. The Ghan celebrated 90 years of service in 2019. Combine two oceans on one epic journey, The Indian Pacific this year celebrates 50 years of operation from Perth to Sydney & return. This summer the Great Southern train journey was launched Adelaide to Brisbane, via Canberra & Coffs Harbour heading north, then Coffs Harbour, Newcastle & Melbourne on the southern direction. All of your meals, beverages & off train excursions are included. A journey by rail is no everyday journey, from the moment you step aboard, you can escape slowly & relax quickly finding the ultimate luxury – time.
Did you know that Alice Springs has it’s own light festival? Parrtjima, pronounced parcheema, is held every April with ten nights of light installations from a number of Aboriginal artists. From immersive Aboriginal artworks to interactive creations, and the magical illumination of the MacDonnell Ranges, Parrtijima is the newest light festival to blow Australia’s minds. There is an action packed program full of live talks, events & music by local and national musicians.
Combine your stay in Alice Springs with a visit to Uluru. Bruce Munro’s internationally acclaimed art installation ‘Field of Light’, which is set at the base of Uluru, has been extended for another season. The epic art piece will now be on show until 31 December 2020. We thoroughly recommend you see the installation both at night & at dawn.
